This year-book has been published without interruption since 1829 and is the oldest ecclesiastical year-book published in Britain or Ireland.
It is thought to be the ecclesiastical year-book with the longest uninterrupted existence published anywhere in the Catholic Church. It even predates the Vatican’s own Annuario Pontificio.
It consists of a liturgical calendar for celebrating the Liturgy in Scotland, and a guide to the presence of the Church in every place in Scotland and to Catholic organisations. It contains a history of the dioceses and bishops since 1603, and a chronicle of events each year, plus obituaries of deceased clergy. It includes yearly statistics and a record of which church buildings are listed.
