Scottish Catholic Youth Service

The Scottish Catholic Youth Service is an Agency of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland. Our task is to assist the Bishops in their pastoral care of young Catholics in Scotland. In particular SCY is tasked with promoting the New Evangelisation and its joyful proclamation of the person of Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection, to the young people of our country.

SCY seeks ways of bringing young Catholics to a deeper knowledge and love of Jesus Christ within the family of the Church. It is also the point of contact with the Holy See’s Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life and with the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences.

We support collaboration in youth work among our eight dioceses and promote attendance of our young people at World Youth Day and coordinate the National Youth Pilgrimage. Where necessary and helpful, we promote and encourage best practice concerning safeguarding of young and vulnerable people.
